Veterans Day

Through special events and acts of remembrance, we recognize the sacrifices our Veterans made.

The National Constitution Center in Philadelphia provides an opportunity for youth to send postcards to express messages of thanks to those who served in the military. This learning activity allows youth to actively remember the sacrifices and achievements of Veterans.

Our postcards will be distrubuted to Veterans through the Center's Thank a Vet Program.

Thank you, Veterans,  for serving!

Veterans Day

Room 100 found a fun way to say "Thank You" to the Veterans who have protected this country. Students decorated postcards for Veterans at the Norfolk Veterans Home - a reminder to the residents their sacrifices are acknowledged and we are grateful.

Most of the students know someone who serves in the military, and a few students know some extra special Veterans . . .

The speaker at our Veterans Assembly is a very familiar face to so many students at Norfolk Middle School.  Mrs. Thompson is a fourth grade teacher at Westside Elementary.

Veterans Day

We had a Veterans Day mini unit this week and the kids were all about it! 

Team 2 found an easy and fun way to say "Thank You" to the Veterans who have protected this country.  Each student wrote a letter to a Veteran and then crafted a soldier to go with it. It was a great way for them to honor those who have served this country.

A company of soldiers now line the hall outside Room 102.  They'll be delivered to the Norfolk Veterans Home  - a reminder to the residents that their sacrifices are acknowledged and we are grateful.

 NMS will celebrate Veterans Day at an assembly on Friday, November 9.  We are SO thankful for those who served…and continue to serve our wonderful country!

Room 102 was able to thank some real-life heroes on Friday. All the students know someone who serves in the Military - -parent, uncle, cousin, grandparent, Mrs. Uzzell's son. Today was a great time to thank them for what they have done; for their willingness to sacrifice for the sake of others.
