Planetarium Field Trip

The Planetarium is a sky theater where it is possible to simulate the night sky at any place on Earth at any time of the year. The Wayne State College Planetarium with its audiovisual special effects explored topics such as the moon, constellations, planets, and galaxies. In the planetarium concepts were demonstrated in ways that are impossible in a classroom. This translates into enhanced learning for students.

Our field trip combined the planetarium visit with a tour of The Wayne State College Museum of Natural History. Thank you for sharing those critters, Dr. Loggins!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Room 102 celebrated Thanksgiving with friendship bread.

Ten days prior to our Thanksgiving break, Mackenzie brought a Ziploc bag of Amish Friendship Bread starter to class. For ten days students took turns mashing the gloopy substance. We added the flour, sugar, and milk to keep it “growing.”

The timing for baking was perfect . . . Thanksgiving, friends, and a cinnamon treat!

Thank you, Mackenzie, for "starting friendship" in Room 102!

Field Trip

Room 102 celebrated GIS Day and Geography Awareness Week at Northeast's Lifelong Learning Center. Everyone was intensely engaged.  Students wrestled with the content, a raft of skills, and some pretty compelling GPS. It was fabulous!

11.11.11

Room 102 was able to thank some real-life heroes on Friday. All the students know someone who serves in the Military - -parent, uncle, cousin, grandparent, Mrs. Uzzell's son. Today was a great time to thank them for what they have done; for their willingness to sacrifice for the sake of others.

For your bravery, hard work, and dedication,
we thank you!

The Internet is Down!

No Internet! Don't panic! We can revert to earlier behaviors.  Room 102 broke out the board games with actual dice. What? We have to roll the dice manually? Yes, yes you do.

Curriculum board games provide a motivational way for students to review important concepts.  They engage children in an activity that challenges the mind, teaches social skills, and promotes active learning while having fun!
