Brick by Brick

Schools celebrate students in dozens of different ways. They celebrate students' citizenship and creativity, academics and attendance.
Norfolk Middle School is celebrating our fantastic students by building a brick wall.
Principal Hughes introduced a new program at the middle school this year that will recognize and encourage positive character qualities in our students.
“We hope to see all of you get a brick and get your name up on the wall. Brick by brick, we are going to have a good school year. Once we build our wall, the school is going to stop for an afternoon and have a school celebration.”

The Brick Award is raising awareness of respectful and kind behavior in our school.  It has caught on in this Full Classroom and bricks are beginning to stack up!

What a character!

Norfolk Middle School honors students each month who have exhibited great strength in a set of identified character traits also known as pillars of character. These pillars include trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship. At the end of each month, one student from each team is recognized as an outstanding role model of the traits. This student receives a Student of the Month certificate.
October's Character Ed Assembly honored Paige from Team 1A. Paige was among several middle school students honored today for the character quality of TRUST.
Congratulations, Paige!

Character Ed Assembly

November's Character Ed  assembly focused on the quality of empathy. Teaching children to recognize and understand the feelings and viewpoints of others makes for a better community and society as a whole.
Students were given an opportunity to put some of these lessons into practice during the month of November.  Team 2 teachers were happy to treat students today and acknowledge they are an AWesome group of students.

Parents are always invited to attend these monthly assemblies. Check the school calendar and watch for dates and times.

A shout out to Nothing But Country for sharing the A & W label.
