Parent Teacher Conferences

Thank you, parents, for attending your child’s conference this week!  I enjoyed the opportunity to sit down with each of you to discuss your child’s progress and goals for the upcoming months.

It was fun for students to self-assess and share their "apple stars" at conferences.

If you have questions or input that you believe would be beneficial to your child's success, please do not hesitate to contact me.  I appreciate and value your input and support.
Enjoy your 3-day weekend. We are off to a great start with these fantastic fifth grade students!

A big thanks to Vickie Plant at Primary Press for the apple tag.

Our Pumpkin Patch

Pumpkins make everyone think of fall and fall holidays. Room 100 is having their own kind of fun with pumpkins as we prepare for Parent Teacher Conferences next week. Notes were sent home with your child. Please mark your calendar and plan to attend.
During conferences you are invited into our pumpkin patch to pick a pumpkin and learn more about your child. Room 100 is feeling rather festive.

I look forward to our conference. Thanks for your help in making your child’s year a successful one!

February's Estimation Jar

Students love to make predictions and they get so excited in the hopeful anticipation of being the winner.  What was fun this month was watching the parents get involved with an estimate. One set of parents got out their phone to crunch numbers on the calculator app.
The estimation jar was a fun addition to Parent Conferences.  Sydney's mom stopped by today for lunch and was given her winnings- 53 chocolates in the jar! Congratulations!

Thank you, parents,  for attending your child's conference during conference week. I enjoyed the opportunity to sit down with each of you to discuss your child's progress, the many ways we can best support your child, and goals for the upcoming months.

As we move forward into the quarter,  if you have questions or input that you believe would be beneficial to your child's success, please do not hesitate to contact me. I appreciate and value your involvement and support.

Flu Bug Hits

Thank you, parents, for your emails and kind words. That "bug" ruined our time together for parent/teacher conferences. I am willing to reschedule, so I'll give you a call. Until then, I am conferencing individually with students. I've asked the kids to reflect on their learning, review their grades, and set goals.  During our mini conference, the students and I are discussing goals to finish the year strong.

We had "sweet" plans for February conferences with lots to show parents. These notes will be coming home to you in a manilla envelope with samples of your student's work. Please take the time to visit with your child about his or her progress.

Our Pumpkin Patch

Room 102 is creating their very own pumpkin patch. Pumpkins make everyone think of fall and fall holidays like Halloween and Thanksgiving. But did you know that pumpkins are healthy to eat? Do you know how long it takes a pumpkin to grow? Did you know there are many different kinds of pumpkins? During parent/teacher conferences, come into our pumpkin patch to learn more about pumpkins. Plus you can enjoy our fall poetry displayed in the hall. We're feeling rather festive!

A shout out to Martha Stewart for sharing the pumpkin pattern found here.
